Build description

I started the game about a month ago (October, 2016) and put together a "Toying with Tanking" build that blended some 1h-Shield with some 2h to help me with leveling while still letting me tank the normal dungeons and world bosses.

I am now approaching level 50, know a bit more about the game (although still clearly in a newbie state), and am shifting fully towards tanking with this build.

I don't have CP and I don't have monster helms (although I have a shoulder piece... it's... okay). I'm also somewhat skill constrained. By the time I ding 50 I should be able to (a) finish the main story, (b) finish the zone quests for everything in EP (just finished Eastmarch), (c) finish Mage/Fighter guild lines and (d) sky shrines for every EP zone I've leveled through.

This is the build that should help me find my gearing needs.

As previously, I appreciate any thoughts or feedback. In particular, I am curious about gear choices for a truly new tank. I should be able to build myself a 5-piece Hist bark set (research is coming along properly) and I have some ideas on the two-piece monster set I want. My real curiosity lies with jewelry grinding - for now I will likely go with whatever looks okay that drops.

Thank you for the feedback. I had two abilities on the wrong bar. Inner Fire should have been on the bar with talons and noxious breath. That leaves one taunt on each bar.

That said, I find myself wondering about the value of Unrelenting Grip. It seems that most things either (a) are inherently resistant to UG or (b) are dead too soon to really matter if they can be gripped.

I am leaning towards subbing out UG with Shielded Assault to add mobility and another damage shield to the build. So, ultimately, moving it pretty close to your recommendation.

I still like Inner Fire on bar-2 for the synergy opportunity... but I may find myself moving away from it.

By the way, I use whitestrake + hist bark for my tank. And I also go with whatever jewelry that drops.

Not a bad build.
I would just take off one of the taunts. Having 2 taunts is wasting 1 skill slot for me. If you have Inner Rage because of distance, you should consider using shielded assault (shield charge morph) + pierce armor instead.
