Build description

The Eternal Dragon is a Dark Elf Dragonknight build for (mainly solo) pvp. The idea is to make use of the Dragonknights awesome self-healing, damage-dealing abilities. This will let you do a lot of damage and still keep you alive in tough situations.

Main Bar (Sword and Shield):
Your main DPS ability will be, of course, Flame Lash. It is not that powerful, but you can spam it and when used after you root enemies in Burning Talons, you get an awesome self heal, a damage boost to the ability itself and it's free of cost, which is very good in pvp. And that's one of the reasons I have Burning Talons on my main bar, it procs Power Lash, and you can recast it as much as you want, forcing your oponents to burn stamina to get out or get hit by Power Lash. Burning Embers is a flex-spot actually, it is very nice in 1v1 combat, mainly because the self-heal is really good (and it barely costs anything), but in 1vX situations it's not that useful and Proximity Detonation might be better. I use Flames of Oblivion on my mainbar for the 10% increase in crit chance, I prefer it above Mage Light and its morphs because it also does decent damage and it hits stealthed enemies in range (fleeing Nightblades are in bad luck here!). Invasion is there for an obvious reason; it's my gap closer. As my ultimate I have Devouring Swarm, it's cheap, it's a nice finisher but of course it's mainly there for when you are surrounded or in need of health, you will be practically unkillable for 5 seconds.

Off-bar (Restoration Staff):
I use Dragon Fire Scales when faced with ranged enemies who are out of range for Invasion or when I'm out of stamina, it's a really strong ability and every Dragonknight should use this in my opinion. Next I use Molten Arnaments as my major sorcery buff, you could use Structured Entropy for the mages guild passives instead. I prefer Molten Arnaments because its duration is really long (40s) and it increases the damage of your heavy attacks with 40%, this is awesome with the heavy attack of the restoration staff! This is also the reason why you don't really need a lot of regen, do one heavy attack and you can cast a few spells again and you do a lot of damage getting that magicka back as well! Then I have a combination which suits me better than using Healing Ward (which will be used by most people), I use Blessing of Restoration in combination with Ward Ally because I want my shield to be reliable in every situation and when the shield is up I can heal myself back to full health with 2 or 3 hits of BoR, ready to fight again. The last "normal" ability is probably one of the strongest; Deep Breath, it interrupts and it does quite a bit of damage after 2,5s (and heals you instantly), which helps you get burst damage. My 2nd ultimate is Shooting Star, this is just great because it does a ton of burst damage, knocks enemies down and grants empower, making the synergy with Flame Lash (and Power Lash) really nice!

As for my gear I use:
- 2 piece Valkyn Skoria: this really procs a lot with Burning Talons, Burning Embers, Flame Lash sometimes I believe and also with the restoration staff, because it is a damage over time-channel attack. Both light, head is infused, shoulders are divines. (I would like to try out Bloodspawn, but I have not got the shoulders yet).
- 5 piece Kagrenac's Hope: it gives you everything you need in my opinion; health, magicka, magicka recovery and spell damage + faster resurrecting and magicka return when resurrected someone which is a nice bonus. Heavy chest for most resistance which is infused, medium legs for 2nd most resistance which is also infused. Belt, shoes and gloves are light and all have divines trait.
- 5 piece Vicious Death: this is great because I like to play solo and fight against multiple enemies and it works nicely with the Dragonknight and Dunmer passives. You have less magicka and spell damage than with 3x Willpower (Arcane + Spell Damage enchant) and 2x Torug's Pact (Sharpened sword and Infused Shield), but the vicious death-proc is just really nice in 1vX situations. The jewelry are all Arcane and have spell damage enchants, the sword is sharpened for the increase in spell damage and the shield is infused for the increased magicka.

I do not always have a specific rotation, but most of the time it looks something like this: buff op your major sorcery with Molten Arnements (I try to have it up all time, even when no enemy is in sight). When facing a ranged enemy use your staff's heavy attack to do damage and protect yourself with Dragon Fire Scales to get in range for Invasion. This will stun your enemy for a few seconds, giving you time to apply Burning Embers and cast Deep Breath, switch again and cast burning talons and 2 times Flame Lash, proccing Power Lash. In total you do a lot of burst damage and even some DoT. If the enemy isn't dead, repeat from casting Deep Breath, this will probably do the trick. Against multiple enemies and melee enemies, I let them come to me, keep my shield up and cast Deep Breath, Burning Talons and spam Flame Lash till they die or I repeat the sequence. When some Nightblade-coward tries to run away from the fight I cast Flames of Oblivion which will damage him/her and gets it out of stealth, use Invasion to bash him/her to te ground and finish the fight.

I know this build is not min/maxed, but that is not really the goal either. I tried to make a build that is fun to play but can still dominate the battle field. Any ideas or questions are always welcome, and hopefully this helps! (Note that my champion points aren't ideally spread for pvp, but this is because I play in the non-champion point campaign as the fights are longer and fairer in my opinion.)
